I came out of the closet in college. I only came out to my friends since my family was in Taiwan. Even though I lost many people, but I felt free for the very first time. I was the founder of the LGBTQ student consult at school. My biggest mission is to encourage other people to be themselves. However, I still felt like I was cheating on myself since I have not come out to my family. I told my parents during sophomore year. Their reaction was positive, which was completely different than what I was imagining. I would consider myself the lucky one. However, I had the same fear as everyone while in the closet. it gets better, not only because you come out, but because life can only get better if you are truly free and to live as you were meant to be.
